Van drivers appear to support moves to make their vehicles more environmentally friendly.
According to a survey conducted by Swinton Commercial, 73 per cent of drivers would consider buying a more energy efficient vehicle as their next purchase.
However, there were some concerns regarding the price of green technology, with 62 per cent of those asked claiming that their decision would depend of the price of the vehicle.
Phil Moss, commercial vehicle manager at Swinton, said: “Van drivers want to be socially responsible and are willing to make green investments, but the costs associated are hard to take in the current economic climate”.
According to the insurer, the top three vans currently on offer for divers who want to reduce their emissions are the VW Transporter, the Mercedes Sprinter Eco Start and the Ford Transit Econetic.
The news comes as the Society for Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) revealed an increase in the number of commercial vehicles being assembled in the UK.
Output rose by 44 per cent in the month of April, the SMMT claimed.
