Latest news 03 July 2010

The first of hundreds of environmentally-friendly vehicles have been delivered to Transport for London (TfL).

Under recently-announced plans geared towards helping to make the UK capital one of the most eco-friendly cities on the planet, a fleet of Mitsubishi i-MiEVs are to be used by TfL in its daily operations.

By the end of the current year it is planned that ten of the Mitsubishi electric cars will have been delivered to the public transport body.

Hundreds more are then set to be offered to the public as part of a drive to make London a global leader in green motoring.

Commenting, David Brown, managing director of surface transport at TfL said: “The delivery of these new TfL i-MiEVs is another step towards achieving the Mayor’s goal to make London the electric vehicle capital of Europe.

“By 2015 we hope to have even more electric vehicles on London’s roads and 25,000 charge points installed across the city.”
