Sustainable homes feature in affordable housing scheme

Homes built to Level 3 on the Code for Sustainable Homes have opened as part of a new affordable housing scheme.

Located in North Devon, Granary Court in Barnstaple is owned and managed by West Somerset Housing Association.

The properties feature high levels of insulation and have been built using timber from a sustainable source.

In addition to this, the hot water in the homes is provided by solar power.

Brian Moores, lead member for housing from North Devon Council, said: “This development has been a great opportunity to deliver affordable housing and meet one of the council’s key objectives – to help achieve targets for grant-aided affordable housing.”
