Skycore announced that its newly released codeREADr platform will make iPhones act as barcode scanners for secure, real-time tracking and validation of data embedded in 2D barcodes.Story continues below ↓ Skycore (News – Alert) has asserted that generally the usage of commercial scanners and systems will only result in high capital expenses and in order to avoid that they have developed this new codeREADr platform for developers, enterprises and service providers to easily add scanning and data collecting functionality into their processes. The codeREADr platform works by joining an iPhone (News – Alert) app with scanning barcodes with a web service for managing app users, devices and databases. Users can store their service-specific databases on Skycore servers and use the platform to record, track and trace scanned data or additionally validate them against these databases. The platform is based on ‘Open Standards’ barcode reading technology that will allow users to auto scan, auto execute, zoom image and read 2D barcodes and also1D barcodes with auto-focus cam. The scanned data is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer cryptographic protocols. There is also facility to encrypt the barcode before distribution for extended security. The company has claimed that with their platform, administrators can create and manage multiple services, multiple scanning devices and distribute passwords and access codes to multiple users, each with unique permissions. The administrator controls all settings, data and permissions for each service. Developers can use a simple PostBackURL function for passing data to & from their servers or an API for full integration. The platform can also be used for access control at events and security checkpoints; time, attendance and work flow management for professionals and production employees; document, inventory, asset and lead tracking for enterprises; and contest, coupon and loyalty reward redemption for retailers. Rich Eicher (News – Alert), CEO and founder of Skycore has commented that codeREADr platform’s focus on speed, real-time transactions and security makes it unique. It’s not meant to replace commercial scanners; instead, it’s meant for the budget conscious and for new, unique applications enabled with a scanner in users’ pocket. In related news, Skycore unveiled Mobile Organizer on Facebook (News – Alert) platform.
