Plantronics Enhances Collaboration with Cisco

Cisco (News – Alert) customers can get intelligent audio features and superior sound quality which they can experience during online meetings, video conferences and pc-based calls. This has become possible by the integration announced by Plantronics Inc. of their Unified Communications (News – Alert) product portfolio with Cisco Unified Communications applications.  Unified communication eliminates the boundary between the desktop phone and the PC. Voice communication is merged with email, text messaging and video conferencing and a single PC-based platform is provided. As employees get freed from their desks, this enables them to work naturally, comfortably and productively giving rise to improved efficiencies and profitability. Wideband an audio solution makes calls natural sounding. Noise canceling headset eliminates noise related to work environment. Wireless head sets or hands free corded headsets provide the user the freedom of movement and he can handle multi-tasks without missing a call.  Companies with deployment of Cisco Unified Communications are enabled to use Plantonics UC products. According to Michael Gjerstad, vice president of Strategic Partnerships at Plantronics (News – Alert), the user experience is being enhanced with their collaboration with Cisco. Plantronics audio devices enhance Cisco’s integrated voice, video and web conferencing applications and the users are able to control calls directly from the audio device.  Workers are struggling to manage communications with cell phones, landlines and VoIP calls, email, text messages and voicemail boxes. Unified communications provides the bridge between all these communication systems so that communication can be managed with one interface.  The headset can be used as a common device across all communication channels. As communication is required during traveling, driving and also when office space is shared, it is necessary to take care of noise to improve comfort level. This is where ergonomic innovations and noise canceling technology is made use of to develop superior quality headphones.  Cisco was in news recently for launching a new device this week – the Cius, a “mobile collaboration business tablet,” which is based on Google’s open-source Android (News – Alert) operating system and is integrated with Cisco’s collaboration and communications applications.
