Planning for the UK’s largest Level 5 eco development has been submitted to Cherwell District Council after they were changed from original proposals made in November 2010.
According to the developers of the NW Bicester eco town project, it would define “ground-breaking new standards” in sustainable housing and exceed minimum requirements set out by the government.
Now subject to consultation, the plans would see the creation of 393 residential properties and retail and office space. An ‘energy centre’, school and even an eco-pub are also set out in the plans.
The changes from the original application include landscape design and improvements to the walking, cycling and public transport facilities.
It was reported earlier this week by the Coventry Telegraph that permission has been granted for two eco homes to be built in Canley as part of a project to test the energy efficiency of a Level 6 home and a property built to Passivhaus standards.
