In my attempts to meet the needs of all students, I am curious about how to make tutorial, study session and chemistry clinics as beneficial as possible. Do you have any ideas or concerns?

admin answers:
You can find out online

Paul asks…
How do you use the Wii Remote for VBA?
Can somebody give me a tutorial on how to use the Wii Remote as a joystick for the Visual Boy Advance?

admin answers:
Not sure.

I love this braid and I wondered if there was a tutorial on how to do it. If someone could give me a link or tell me the name of the braid it would be great.
Thanks!

admin answers:
Yup there is.
That’s a Fishtail braid.
Here are some tutorials:

2. Http://2good2lose.com/braid-fishtail.shtml <—I prefer to use if not a vid.

4. Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smJvLUl89ko <—-Most popular video on YT for fishtail tutorial. (She does tons of other hair vids…that might be interesting for you too.)

David asks…
How do you form an equation of a line that satisfies points (1, −7) and is parallel to the line x + 2y = 6?
I have an assignment online and I keep getting this question wrong. I used the slope equation y=mx+b, and I got (-1/2)x – 13/2 as my answer. I used three different tutorials on how to get the answer to this question, and I still don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. If anyone can please help point me into the right direction, that’d be great! Thank You.

admin answers:
First determine the slope:
Convert x + 2y = 6 to slope-intercept form by solving for y:
x + 2y = 6
2y = 6 – x
y = 3 – x/2
y = (-1/2) x + 3
So the slope is -1/2
The new line will be
y = -1/2 x + b for some intercept b
and we know that
if x = 1, y = -7
So substitute into the equation those values for x and y
and solve for b:
-7 = -1/2 (1) + b
-7 = -1/2 + b
b = -7 + 1/2
b = -14/2 + 1/2
b = -13/2
Then the equation is in fact
y = -1/2 x – 13/2
It can be converted to
2y = -x – 13
or
x + 2y = -13
Note the similarity to the original equation.
Checking:
for x = 1 we have
y = -1/2 (1) – 13/2 = -1/2 – 13/2 = -14/2 = 7
or
1 + 2 (-7) = 1 – 14 = -13
which is the desired result in either case.
Your answer is correct.
If the answer in the book is something different,
perhaps there is a typographical error in the answer
or the question.
