Leading US Telecom Provider Deploys Openet’s Solutions

By Trupti Kamath TMCnet Contributor Openet (News – Alert), the leading provider of transactional intelligence for the world’s largest and most innovative network service providers, announced that a Tier 1 North American wireless operator has successfully deployed Openet’s solution that enables the operator to monetize the market-leading tablet device, Apple’s (News – Alert) iPad.  ”As tablets and other mobile Internet devices continue to be rolled out by all operators, a new market segment has emerged — those customers who want network access without having to sign long-term contracts,” Mike Manzo, CMO at Openet said.  With the Subscriber Initiated Provisioning and Service Pass solutions, the operator is able to sell ad-hoc and recurring data plans to iPad customers, enabling subscriber initiated provisioning of data access by volume of data usage and duration, thus meeting demand for flexible, personalized service offerings. ”With the iPad supporting Over-The-Air Activation, the operator is implementing both Openet’s Subscriber Initiated Provisioning and Service Pass solutions to give its device users the option to purchase a flexible data plan that fits their needs. By adding a third type of service option, the operator is uniquely able to meet customer needs, which is a powerful competitive advantage,” Manzo added. Openet’s Subscriber Initiated Provisioning and Service Pass solutions allow operators to quickly roll out new mobile data plans on any type of mobile device. Before deploying these solutions, the operator was unable to offer mobile network access for defined period of time and/or usage, whilst not connected to Wi-Fi.  Now, customers using the iPad are able to purchase a data plan that fits their usage needs anytime, from anywhere; access data services without having to commit to a long-term contract; and exert more control over their data plan and view their usage in real time. With this deployment, the operator now has an end-to-end solution set that supports the delivery of over-the-air data services to iPad users. The solutions are scalable and can work with next generation devices and future network rollouts, including 4G and LTE (News – Alert) networks. These solutions represent the foundation for the operator’s data plans for new mobile devices, helping it to achieve its first-to-market objectives. Running on the award-winning FusionWorks Framework, the solutions incorporate several Openet products, including Balance Manager, Convergent Mediation, and Profile Manager. With the Openet Subscriber Initiated Provisioning and Service Pass solutions in place, the operator is able to rapidly deploy new devices and data plans in the future, allowing it to continue to deliver the best customer experience possible while maximizing new and existing revenue streams. Telecom provider Orange France recently selected Openet’s FusionWorks Policy Manager to deliver better network-resource control and new business models based on real-time customer profiles.
