Lamborghini named least environmentally-friendly car by ETA

Latest news 17 June 2010

The most environmentally-destructive car has been named by the Environmental Transport Association (ETA).

According to the group the Lamborghini Murcielago emits five times more carbon dioxide per kilometre than the car named Green Car of the Year, the Toyota iQ.

Over 5,000 vehicles were examined by the association with emissions, power and fuel efficiency all taken into account.

Andrew Davis, director of the ETA, commented: “With emissions five times worse than the greenest car, the Lamborghini is the bull in an environmental china shop.

“Thankfully, there are very few on the roads and there is an increasing choice of environmentally-sound cars.”

He added that, along with an improved understand of the threat which carbon dioxide emissions pose to the environment, record prices of petrol and diesel are making fuel efficiency an important deciding factor in people’s choice of vehicle.

The news follows a recent poll by the ETA which found that men were more likely than women to change their driving habits in order to cut down costs.
