SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The cowbells are ringing loud and proud again.
A standing–room only crowd is coming together for perhaps one, final time to see their beloved Sacramento Kings face the rival Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night.
Fans, some with those old trademark cowbells in hand, were chanting “Here We Stay!” and “Save Our Kings!” before tipoff. There were hundreds if not thousands of handmade signs, some fans were covered in purple–and–black body paint and others donned golden crowns.
But not everyone was being so kind. There also were derogatory chants and angry posters toward Kings owners Joe and Gavin Maloof, who are exploring options to move the franchise to Anaheim after 26 seasons in Sacramento.
