Steve Jobs has been reassuring consumers and Apple (News – Alert) customers they won’t be disappointed with his upcoming WWDC keynote, according to a piece in Yahoo News.
Considering the launch of the iPad, Jobs blazing words against Adobe and the constant and obvious animosity between Apple and Google (News – Alert), who wouldn’t be on edge to hear the next thing Jobs will share?
The WWDC has been confirmed by June 7, the first day of Apple’s annual developers’ confab, an event that has served as the launching pad for the latest iPhones. While industry ears have been in the know that the industry would be held June 7 to June 11, Apple had yet to reveal the exact day and time of the keynote until now. Jobs will take the stage at 10 a.m. PST on June 7.
Key industry players are ready to view the latest iPhone (News – Alert) – even if Jobs isn’t talking about its anticipated presence. Yahoo News claims he has been replying to customer e-mails, including a message to a user chiding Google and the Android (News – Alert) mobile platform. Jobs was asked by the customer if Apple can bring to WWDC announcements that will blow Google out of the water. Jobs’ response? We won’t be disappointed.
Reportedly, Jobs fired off another reply to a Gizmodo reader who had asked whether Google was surpassing Apple with the Android. Jobs response – “Not a chance.”
Of course, now that the cat is out of the bag on the new iPhone, will Jobs have anything left up his sleeve to impress and captivate? Will he make the iPhone available for Verizon – not likely given AT&T’s (News – Alert) contract, but some still hope given their network performance – or even Sprint? Is it possible the new iPhone will resemble nothing of the leaked design?
There are still so many questions – which is exactly what Jobs hopes to create: anticipation and curiosity. The more anticipation in the market, the better the draw for his announcements as all eyes and ears are on Apple in two weeks. You can bet TMCnet will be waiting to hear and ready to share.
In other Apple news, the company announced last week that the beta version of the next operating system for Apple’s iPhone OS 4 beta 4, released to developers yesterday, includes an option for Internet tethering. This indicates that AT&T is finally ready to support this option. Only time will tell.
