Glowpoint, Inc., a provider of carrier-grade, managed telepresence and video communications services that are accessible via its cloud-based, hosted infrastructure, and open architecture applications, announced that it has appointmented Unified Communication industry veterans Anil Balani and Shane Bouslough as senior vice president of product development division and vice president of information systems division respectively. In their new roles, both the executives will play key roles in driving Glowpoint’s (News – Alert) service portfolio in the rapidly expanding telepresence and video conferencing market. Both bring extensive unified communications industry and cloud-based applications design expertise to Glowpoint. According to a press release, Balani will be managing all aspects of research and development as well as product management of the company. He will also focus on advancing the company’s hosted, cloud-based platform delivering global open access to a full suite of managed video services across unified communications technologies and networks. Balani has over 17 years experience in convergent technologies, voice over IP, and video over IP. He has not only held several leadership roles in product and software development, as well as systems architecture and engineering at UTC Associates, Global Crossing (News – Alert), AT&T/Teleport, and Texas Instruments, but has also founded several companies, such as Vonair, Netria Systems (a Broadsoft joint venture), and Coreon. In addition, Balani has been active in the development of mobility and collaborative applications, building a nationwide IP network, launching integrated voice-and-data services, and developing crucial defense applications, throughout his career. Balani has B.S. degree from New York University, B.E.E. degree from Cooper Union, M.S. and M.S.E.E. degrees from Southern Methodist University, and M.B.A. degree from University of Dallas. According to the release, Bouslough will be managing the Glowpoint’s system and operational support development initiatives, as well as sales channel support systems. Having over 20 years experience in the development and management of enterprise-class information systems, Bouslough successfully managed the construction and operation of critical systems such as IVR, OSS/BSS, billing and call detail record mediation, channel sales partner portals, and help desk and network operations center applications. He also founded a successful Long Island-based Internet Service Provider. Prior to Glowpoint, Bouslough held senior engineering and management positions at Periphonics Corp. and InfoHighway Communications (News – Alert). Bouslough has B.S. degree in Computer Science from New York Institute of Technology and M.S. degree in Computer Science from State University of New York at Stony Brook. Glowpoint offers a suite of telepresence and video conferencing solutions that empowers enterprises to communicate with each other over disparate networks and technology platforms. In the recent news, TMCnet reported that students at Georgetown University’s D.C., and Doha, Qatar, campuses have started to communicate and interact with each other by leveraging Polycom’s RealPresence Experience HD and Glowpoint’s network and managed services through its hosted-cloud infrastructure.
