I have a great business idea and a very thorough business plan to back it up. I am 23 years old and have not had enough time or money to clean up my credit. Why is Nancy Pelosi out to “Save the Plant” vs. taking care of the people’s business?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi opposes lifting the moratorium on drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and on the Outer Continental Shelf. She won’t even allow it to come to a vote. With $4 gas having massively shifted public opinion in favor of domestic production, she wants to protect her Democratic members from having to cast an anti-drilling election-year vote. Moreover, given the public mood, she might even lose. This cannot be permitted. Why? Because, as she explained to Politico: “I’m trying to save the planet; I’m trying to save the planet.”

Since when has it become the Speaker of the House’s responsibility to save the planet? Instead of going out to try to promote her poor selling book, don’t you think she should allow Congress to vote on a energy plan that addresses everything, including drilling?

I was asked to explain Christian thought of the Trinity, and the significance of the Virgin Mary (Theotokos “God Bearer”) from a metaphysical position. Christianity is a very metaphysical faith, if it is to be seen through the glasses of metaphysics. Like all forms of metaphysics, it is appropriate to explain this thought cosmically. Imagine if we were to use the solar system as a metaphor. This will just be an example, rather than a complex form of poetry. The Trinity ofcourse is the Godhead of Christianity, Father, Sun, and Holy Spirit. The Virgin Mary represents the feminie aspects of life. God the Father is the very existence and make up of the solar system. He IS the solar system in wholeness. He bares the Sun, the Moons, and Planets, for which all that contains matter…yet the characteristics of various pieces in the solar system form their own personality, and are equally important for all things to function. God the Son, is represented by the Sun. The sun is the embodiment of God as seen through what is tangible. It is the center piece of the solar system, for which all things revolve around. It is the source and provider for all life and significance in our solar system. If it is not for the sun, we would be nothing more than rocks floating through space. God the Holy Spirit represents the intangible force of the solar system that we define as gravity. Gravity upholds order, and keeps the solar system moving in a unique balance that makes life possible. The most Holy Theotokos…though given controvercial status was not called by the ancient church “First among the saints,” or “Queen of Heaven” merely as a figure head. The Theotokos represents Mother Earth. The very existence of life. The God Bearer is the vessel through and for which God operates and expresses the conception of himself to his creation. We’ve received a summons for our electric bill debt through cl&p, (Connecticut light and power), but don’t have the money to pay. We’re currently on medical protection program, because my daughter has severe life threatening asthma. We have to buy all of her medication, which is a lot of money. Only one income is coming in right now, my husband’s. I am currently unemployed, but looking for work, which is really hard to find. (obviously, just look at the news) I’ve been without work for awhile, also because of having lyme disease, three times, that debilitated me for awhile. We are a low income household, so we worked with bco, a local organization that helps with debt and other things. They had it set up that we paid $60 a month to our electric company on a payment plan. We’ve been continuing these payments every month, we even paid in January. *******Now, we have this summons that we need help figuring out. Do we just sign it and send it back? What happens then?
*******Do we try to negotiate with the electric company’s lawyer to find a payment plan?
*******We don’t want to get a lawyer, because we don’t want to fight it, and we’d rather just have a payment plan, to where we pay the lawyer monthly, a certain payment arrangement.
*******So, any tips and ideas on how to get the electric company’s lawyer to agree on a monthly payment plan will be greatly appreciated. Is there anything specific I should say to get them to understand the situation we’re in? We really don’t have the money to pay, but would gladly pay a monthly payment arrangement.

Big thick Yellow Pages dumped into every driveway, business, and apartment building every year? What a waste of paper? Many people don’t use this archaic old fashioned way of finding information anymore. And that big thick book goes from driveway to trash or recycle bin. And we can’t opt-out of having this delivered (probably so that the Real Yellow Pages can keep charging high rates for listings). Why doesn’t the Yellow Pages (and the White Pages) deliver this on CD-ROM and actually help the environment.

How can I encourage an outdoor cat to stay inside?

There is this cat (not too old) that I found a while back on my porch. She comes around to feed often as I bought some cat food and a bowl and I even let her come into my house (right next to the door) to eat it. She lets me close the door and is very warm to petting and the like… But she wont stay, once she eats and gets her attention she wants to go back outside and if I go into another room or anything she jumps and tries to get to the blinds to get out…

How do I to train an outdoor cat to be happy indoors?

We inherited our cat from a family who needed to move away. Scooter has lived 10+ years free to roam inside and outdoors as he pleased. He likes being inside mostly to eat and sleep — generally at night and when it is cold.

Our vet suggests that we not let him outdoors any more.
Scooter is a scrapper/fighter and defends our yard from other cats and some wild animals (like opossums, raccoons, squirrels and ground hogs.) He has been loosing some of those battles lately and has a few bite marks which needed antibiotics.

We’ve kept Scooter inside but he lets us know he is not happy.
I walk him on a leash a few times a day. But Scooter, of course, wants to lead me around, which I let him do until he approaches someone porch or tries to go into their back yard. He’s not happy with the leash, but he tolerates it.
But, he still wants to go out on his own … like at 5AM – he starts to knock on the windows, meows in our ears, pulls the bed covers off … stuff like that.
I grab him and hold him down till he settles down. Which lasts for 15 minutes (just long enough for me to fall back to sleep.) Then he starts rattling the blinds again!

Am I encouraging him by letting him out at all?
How do I convince him he’s not going out by himself anymore?
Help! Four weeks of interrupted sleep and I am not a nice person to be around.
The only “toy” he likes is his scratch pad, preferably with a fresh dose of catnip. We’ve tried battery-operated things that move erratically, mouse shaped toys, etc. We had feathers on a string, squeaking things, too.
His favorite thing to do now is look out the window (even if he has to pull down the blinds) and ‘push’ us to the front or back door.
Any ideas about the kinds of toys we can try?

Pets are destroying my house?

We have 4 animals at our house. We have two 8 month old cats, Shadow is F, Bob is a M manx. 6 weeks ago, our neighbor found an abandoned 3 week old M kitten under her porch. It was half dead. After $85 vet visit, the kitten we named Aries is alive and kicking. About 3 weeks ago, a starved F german shepard puppy wandered into our yard. Christened Artemis, she’s also mending, and proving to be very hyper. We keep the cats indoors due to the busy road outside. Artemis has an outdoor pen, but comes in if we’re home, and overnight. I love them all, but they are wrecking my home! The cats claw the baseboards, despite the scratching post we’ve provided. They climb onto the counters, they get into everything. Artemis is still not housebroken, and requires constant supervision, as she loves to chase Aries, and gets way too rough. The worst part is the cats litter box. I change and clean it every day. Bob refuses to cover his mess, and it stinks up the house every time he goes. They all have odd behaviors. For instance, the cats will mew for food. When I pour it, they come running, then walk away, still mewing. Artemis will whine to be let in or out, then refuses to move when you open the door. The last straw came yesterday. I came home. the first thing I saw was the over turned laundry basket, clothes scattered in the hall. Then, the contents of my kitchen table was all over the floor, including a glass ornament. Two of my plants were knocked over, the couch cushions were pulled out, and there wasa gaping hole in one. Artemis had gotten out, snuck inside, and got to work. The cats were guilty of pulling the blinds down, and the plants. I don’t get it. they have toys. They have space. I don’t want oget rid of them, but I’m at my wits end.
Thank you for the great advice. We do have a covered litter box-he just refuses to cover his mess. We love animals, but have decided that 4 is plenty. We give them as much attention as possible, but it might be time to consider new homes. As Bob and Shadow were first, I think we may be finding a new home for Aries and Artemis.
