The BBC’s “pioneering” look at electric vehicles (EV) has kicked off today (June 8th), the broadcaster has announced.
The documentary team for the Electric Drive programme set off from Broadcasting House in London this morning.
Led by presenter Peter Curran, the team of four’s first port of call in their THINK City EV is Harwich, where they will catch a ferry to Denmark.
Richard Canny, chief executive of the manufacturer THINK, commented: “They will prove that an EV can be just as versatile as a conventional car, but at the same time much more cost effective, efficient and friendly to the environment.”
Mr Canny provided the team with several tips to help them get the most out of their vehicle.
One recommended tip to improve the vehicle’s energy efficiency was to use the economy drive function on the transmission to “maximise regenerative braking”.
The trip will be broadcast over a period of four weeks on BBC Radio 4 and BBC News from June 19th.
