Alpheus Communication’s complete suite of terrestrial connectivity services has been selected by CapRock (News – Alert) Communications, a provider of satellite communications to harsh and remote environments.  To provide circuit access and supporting services to its clients, CapRock will leverage Alpheus’s SAS (News – Alert) 70 type II audited certified data centers and deep metro fiber footprint. CapRock, as per the terms of the agreement, will leverage Alpheus’s connectivity, redundancy, collocation and interconnection services for all of its Houston teleport circuits and international connectivity.  Earlier, these services were provided by Alpheus as well as other providers.  Peter Shaper, CEO of CapRock Communications (News – Alert), said: “Our customers have voice and data traffic that needs to be transported to different points across the globe, we needed a partner that could not only support our Houston operations with a proven data center and extensive fiber optic network, but could also accommodate our worldwide requirements. This is where we see Alpheus excel. Alpheus is an agnostic provider and manages connectivity to other providers seamlessly, delivering a true end-to-end service.”  ”We’ve seen first-hand how responsive Alpheus is to our service requirements,” CapRock COO Doug Tutt, said. “Our customers operate day and night and in different time zones so it’s important that our partners can also support us around the clock. With Alpheus’ 24/7 Network Operations Center, we’ve always been able to speak with a knowledgeable expert when we need to.”  ”Since 2005, we have built a strong partnership with CapRock,” Paul Hobby, CEO of Alpheus Communications (News – Alert), said. “Wireless satellite communications and terrestrial fiber networks need each other to serve customers, so this is an excellent partnership. We are proud to have been selected by CapRock.” In related news, Harris Corporation has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire CapRock Communications, a provider of mission-critical managed satellite communications solutions. Harris, as per the agreement, will purchase CapRock for USD525m in cash, subject to post-closing adjustments.
