Prime minister David Cameron has previously promised to make the Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition the greenest government ever.
Now chancellor George Osborne has committed financial investment in an environmentally-friendly future.
The Budget announcement included confirmation that the government is working towards the creation of a green investment bank to support the UK through its transition to a low carbon economy.
