VIVA, Alcatel-Lucent and Research In Motion have announced the launch of the BlackBerry for VIVA customers in Bahrain.
Ibrahim Al Omar, CEO at VIVA Bahrain, said that VIVA customers want access to the latest technology that can help them manage all aspects of their lives.
“The unique BlackBerry (News – Alert) solution fits perfectly with VIVA’s mission to make life easier and will allow users to access voice, e-mail, Internet and a wide range of mobile data services.”
Bringing together smartphones, software and services, BlackBerry solution allows wireless access to e-mail, phone, calendar, Web, multimedia and other business and lifestyle applications.
Mark Guibert, vice president for corporate marketing at RIM, said that BlackBerry smartphones are popular with users around the world who want advanced communications and multimedia features together with a choice of stylish designs.
“We are working with Alcatel-Lucent (News – Alert) and VIVA Bahrain to introduce the BlackBerry solution to VIVA’s customers,” Guibert said.
Amr El Leithy, head of MEA business at Alcatel-Lucent, said that with this offering, VIVA Bahrain will be able to expand its business opportunities and enable its customers to benefit from the high flexibility offered by the BlackBerry solution, allowing them to stay connected anytime, anywhere. El Leithy believes that this project strengthens Alcatel-Lucent’s position as a global provider of communications.
Initially, VIVA Bahrain is expected to offer its customers the BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone, which includes an extensive array of high-end communications and multimedia features. VIVA said that it’s offering BlackBerry Enterprise Server for corporate customers and BlackBerry Internet Service for smaller businesses and individual users.
Earlier this month, RIM announced a new version of BlackBerry Mobile Voice System with Cisco Unified Communications (News – Alert) Manager that is optimized for version 6.1 or later.
