Munich, Germany –Areva announced its purchase of the remaining 49% of Multibrid, a German wind turbine manufacturer, which becomes Areva Wind, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the group. This acquisition will allow a fast ramp-up of its production capacity to address the growth expected in the wind industry in the next five years. This new platform will also include the rotor blade manufacturing division, formerly PN Rotor.
In mid-2007 Multibrid GmbH inaugurated a new assembly plant for its innovative 5 MW M5000 offshore wind turbine model in Bremerhaven, Germany.
