AdBlue ‘available on forecourts’

Latest news 15 June 2010

Fleet drivers of HGV vehicles could benefit from a recent addition to some petrol forecourts in the UK.

According to Forecourttrader.co.uk, Total is now offering AdBlue at five of its dispensers in the UK.

The substance is used in the Selective Catalytic Reduction process as a means of reducing the level of greenhouse gas emissions from diesel engines and is a requirement under the Euro 5 standards governing HGVs.

However, until recently dispensers of AdBlue have had to be set up on fleet premises.

This often incurs costs of “several thousand pounds worth of expense and disruption”, said Peter Hollister from Total.

The retail fuels development manager said that the new AdBlue pump dispensers available at Total forecourts in the UK could help keep down fleet costs.

Locations of the new pumps include Kings Lynn, Cambridgeshire and Norwich.

Mr Hollister added: “Not only do the pumps offer real benefits to drivers in terms of convenience, they provide a welcome cheaper alternative solution to fleets with HGVs.”
